In order to stay relevant and credible to your clients, you must stay updated and current with the trends especially when it comes to your logo. Your logo is the first thing someone usually sees when researching your business. Each and every day your business is constantly growing and it’s up to you to be sure you grow with it. If you haven’t redone your business’ logo since it’s inception, it may be time for an update. You don’t want to be rocking a logo from 1997 that looks like it’s from 1997. And, what if you simply don’t like it? If all of this sounds like you and your business, you should definitely be in the market for getting a new logo. Keep reading to understand 3 undeniable reasons you may need a new logo.
1. Changes in Your Organization
Because you’re a business owner, I’m sure you’ve noticed that your business has constantly grown and changed throughout the years. It’s the only way your company is going to prosper. All things have to constantly grow in order to be great. Business’ grow because of new opportunities and the fact that you’ve grown in the process.
So, that means your business is not the same as it used to be. And, trust me it’s nothing wrong with that, if your business has grown that means you’re doing something right. As a result of you being totally awesome, it may be time to change your logo up a bit. However, you should make sure it’s the right time. Just because your business has changed a little bit it does not mean it’s the perfect time for an update. It’s all about timing, wait to change your logo at the absolute perfect time because all changes are not major. Once your logo is not speaking to what your business has become and what it has to have to offer then it’s the right time. Your logo must always be in line with your organization.
2. Logo Revitalization
As your company grows, you become more clear about what it represents and how you want people to view it. Your logo may have been done years ago and times change, so as time changes your logo should change as well. Your logo should capture the zeitgeist of this century. This simply means that your logo should stay in tune with the spirit of the times and what’s going on in the world today.
The most important question you need to think about is, is your logo going to keep some of the old elements of your current logo, will you be going in to a totally new direction, or will it be a complete evolution. Either option is totally up to you, or you can have a talk with your designer and maybe they could give advice on which direction to move forward. If you take a look at Google’s logo throughout the years, you’ll know it’s more of an evolution than a complete change. Which is pretty decent because you never loose sight of who they are because the changes are very gradual and modest.
So, I totally understand that you might still love your current logo, but like I said before, times are changing and you have to change with it. Having a logo from 1997 is not going to fly in 2016. So keep in mind there’s a difference between your logo being traditional and outdated. A traditional logo is timeless and classic. Just think about the Chanel logo. Chanel’s interlocking C’s logo was created by Coco Chanel herself in 1925, and has been left unaltered since. If you have a logo that is as simple and clean as Chanel’s you may not ever need to any adjustments. That type of logo depicts a well-established company. Dated logos often give you a feeling of being in that particular era. For a better example think about it in a fashion sense.
Is your logo classic like the ever so popular LBD (Little Black Dress), or is it a fad like an oversized white tee that should stay in the era it came from. You don’t ever want someone to look at your logo and say, “When did you create that? In the 60’s?” If you look at your logo yourself and think that then it’s definitely time to get a new logo. Having an outdated logo can give off the impression that you don’t care about your brand or your consumers. Your consumers may begin to feel like you are untrustworthy and unable to help them. And that’s not the impression you want to give.
3. You’re Just Not Happy with It
Period. This is probably the most important reason why you should get a new logo. If you’re not happy with your logo, why haven’t you gotten a new one? How you feel about your company reflects on the company and how people view it. You should never walk around with a logo that you are not totally confident with. In order for your company to prosper, you have to first be satisfied with it. Once you decide that, it’s finally time to make some adjustments.
